Electromechanical Engineering Technology

Like the Electricity page this page will be under construction for a while.  Initially it will hold a collection of links to various instructional resources.  I will attempt to get all of the resources necessary for class uploaded here but if there is something that appears to be missing let me know.

 General EMET Material
Use this link to find a table that will allow you to convert circular mils to AWG.

This video covers solving parallel circuits.  Calculating resistance and current,

DIY proximity sensor built from an IR emitter and detector.  This is a very simple version

These links direct to a site that explans how passive IR sensors work
Etching a PCB using a laser.

Pulleys and Gears
http://www.technologystudent.com/gears1/geardex1.htm- This link provides material related to application of gears and pulleys
http://www.technologystudent.com/PDF3/pulley2.pdf -printable worksheet on pulleys and velocity.
http://www.technologystudent.com/pdfs/gear6.pdf-printable worksheet of compound gear system.

Electric Motors
http://www.tpub.com/ceb/11038_files/image618.jpg- illustration of a series wound universal motor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obP1TQh1e2w  EMF induction through conductor cutting through a magnetic field

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kubUc1xc2GI&list=PL825AB6C5920AFAFA&index=1- This video link explains asynchronous induction motor operation.

EMET Lab Materials
Motor setup- This picture shows how to set up an electric motor to the power supply and a volt meter in preparation for the RPM lab.

Measuring RPM-  This link shows how to set up the motor to measure RPM's per volt

Car Rpm-  This link shows how to hook up your EMV to measure RPM's at the wheel.

Hall_Effect-  This link shows how to wire the hall effect sensor to the BASIC stamp using the stamp for power.

Hall_Effect_Lab_1-This link contains the program file for the first hall effect lab.  Download this file and open it in the compiler on your computer.

PLC's

The above link is for the table of contents of an online tutorial.  The entire tutorial is printed out in .pdf here.  You may need to access the online version to view certain instructional animations.

EMV Data
This link is for Kelvin's website where they have data related to the torque of their motors.
