I am just beginning my 35th year of teaching in the Punxsy School District.  I taught metal working when I first started in the fall of 1989.  It was an eighth grade exploratory course where students learned about foundry, cold forming, basic sheet metal work and some gas welding and brazing,  I also began a Technology Student Association and my students were involved in designing and manufacturing CO2 dragsters,electric planes and hot air balloons.

About seven years later, when the district built the middle school I stayed at the eighth grade level.  At that point however we invested in a modular lab where I covered a variety of material including: animation, digital audio, electromagnetic wave transmission, basic web page design, CAD, CNC milling and turning, image scanning, packaging and manufacturing with wood. Although we continued a TSA we never really reached the level of involvement that we had at the Junior High.

In 2009 as part of the first consolidation I was transferred to the High School to teach a multimedia class to help prepare the students for our district's 21st century learning initiative.  In the fall of 2014 I was named Technology and Engineering Education Department Chairperson.  In addition to Multimedia I teach Electricity/Electonics, Robotics, Competitive Robotics and Parametric Design.  I am the advisor to the Weather Capital Robotics club.  Our team has competed in BotsIQ for more than 10 years.  In the last 8 years we have received the sportsmanship award twice, the coolest bot twice and the spirit award 3 times.   In the final standings we have had 1 team in the top 10 from 80 teams across South Western PA twice as well.
