• Phil PAHS, home of the Chucks, sits atop the town of Punxsutawney in north central Pennsylvania and houses grades 8-12.  We are proud to once again be on the forefront of education in the 2017-18 school year by continuing the 21st Century Learning Initiative in grades 8 through 12.

    Field Day

    Field Day is on Thursday (rain day Friday) All students will report to 1st period for attendance.  Following the flag salute, we will report to the front of the school for a send off for students attending the state track meet.  After the send off, students will report to homeroom for wristband distribution, then called to the auditorium for the assembly.  Students will be dismissed to field day following the assembly. As the day concludes, students will return to the auditorium at 2:40 for a closing.

    There is no school on Monday, May 28th, in observance of Memorial Day.

    Student Laptop Collection

    Laptop returns are scheduled as follows: 12th grade on May 22, 8th grade on May 23, 9th grade on May 25, 10th grade on May 29, and 11th grade on May 30. Students will be called to the library by homeroom – remember to have your laptops, chargers & cases. The library is closed during laptop returns. You should have all your files backed up before you turn in your laptop. Student files will be cleared over the summer when laptops are refreshed with updates.     Summer School Announcement

    Important Summer School Message - Any student taking a summer school class this summer needs to stop in the Guidance Office to pick up a summer school laptop form to take home for your parents to fill out for summer school. This form must be signed and returned the day his/her computer is called to turn in for the school year.

    PASD Pool Announcements

    Please note the following adjustments to the PASD Pool schedule:

    • The pool will be closed the pool will be closed Friday , May 25 and Monday, May 28 for Memorial Day.  The last day of the school schedule will be Friday, June 1st. The pool will reopen Monday, June 11 following the summer schedule hours.

  • Bell Township and Parkview Honored

    Two elementary schools in the Punxsutawney Area School District were honored as Distinguished Title I Schools and received Keystone Awards for Academic Excellence – High Achievement.  Those schools included Bell Township and Parkview Elementary Schools. Representatives from both buildings attended the Title I Improving School Performance Conference in Pittsburgh and accepted the awards for the schools and district.

    Internet Explorer Users: please use Chrome, Safari, or Firefox to access and complete the registration.  Internet Explorer does not currently work with our registration survey.  We are working to resolve this issue ASAP.  
     
    The Punxsutawney Area School District uses SchoolMessenger to send text alerts regarding special announcements, emergencies, delays, closings, and other important notification events.  In order to receive these notifications, you must register at the beginning of each school year.  PLEASE NOTE: All registrations received prior to September 14, 2017, have been cleared from the system; therefore, you must complete the new registration survey in order to receive notifications for the 2017-2018 school year! 
     
    This year, the registration survey has changed.  We have added options to allow you to choose which type of alerts you would like to receive.  When you register, you will now have the options to receive ALL district text alerts or you can request to only receive text alerts from specific building levels (Elementary, Middle School, and/or High School).  Please follow the directions in the survey to add these options when you register.

    Non-Home School Request

    As in the past, any Punxsutawney Area School District parent who would like his/her child to attend an elementary school other than the child's designated home school during the 2017-2018 school year must complete and submit a Non-Home School Request Form.("Home School" is the school the child should attend according to residence.)  PLEASE NOTE: The process in which to submit Non-Home School Requests has changed.  Requests may be submitted online beginning at 8:00 AM on or after June 26, 2017.  You can access the new, online request form by clicking on the link below:
