Technology Tips for Common Issues

PowerPoint Presentation Issues

Problem: You plug the projector connection into the laptop and you get a "Presenter" screen on your laptop & the full screen on your whiteboard screen. You cannot write interactively in this presentation mode.

Solution:
1. Open the PowerPoint presentation .
2. Go to the "Slide Show" tab to open the ribbon.
3. In this ribbon, select "Mirror Image" instead of the "presenter mode"
4. You can now advance your slides with the interactive whiteboard or write on them.

Problem: The presenter mode is displaying on the whiteboard screen, so you see two slides.

Solution:
1. You need to change the resolution of the screen display.
2. Go to "system preferences"-select "Display"
3. In the display, select 1024 x 768, 60 hz for the LCD display.
4. This should fix the problem so that the presenter view is on your laptop & the single screen view is projected.

USB Cameras

  1. Use the Point 2 View Application (P2V) to run the USB camera.
  2. To focus-

-make sure the button on the camera is on "s" for single focus ("C" is for continuous focus-not good)

-on the laptop screen select the "AF single" button in the bottom right of the application. A red rectangle will appear on

the screen as it focuses. When it is focused, the rectangle will turn green.

  1. To lighten-

-go to the "exposure" button in the top, left. Set the exposure to "2+" as needed to open the lens of the camera.

-try using darker paper under the item you are trying to view. The darker paper sometimes works better than white paper

      or a lighter surface.

Elmo Document Cameras

  1. If you experience trouble getting to the desktop of your laptop, go to "system preferences."
  2. Select "displays."
  3. Go to "detect displays."
  4. You should be able to see your desktop now.

PROBLEM: My computer goes to sleep & then myboard stops projecting.

Answer:

Use the charger cord with the laptop when using thewhiteboard. The laptop powers the board, so battery power is going to depletequickly. The computers are set up NOT to go to sleep when the charger is pluggedin.
