SchoolMessenger Registration

SchoolMessenger Registration Will Return

in the Fall of 2018!

**You MUST complete the online registration form in order to receive text alerts from our school district!  Internet Explorer Users: please use Chrome, Safari, or Firefox to access and complete the registration.  Internet Explorer does not currently work with our registration survey.  We are working to resolve this issue ASAP. This year, we have added new options for you to choose which building-level alerts you receive from our district (all, Elementary, Middle School, and/or High School).  Please read through the survey carefully as you complete it!

**IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN RECEIVING THE RECENT TEXT ALERTS FOR SCHOOL CLOSINGS AND TWO-HOUR DELAYS, text YES to the number 67587.  This will "opt-in" your registration.  (Please note that this is a new number and is different than the number used to opt-in last school year.)

  • In order to receive these text messages, you must fully complete the registration form online.  Click on the link at the top of this page to access the online registration form.

  • After you complete the registration form, please allow approximately 1-2 school days for your registration to become active in the School Messenger system.  Completing the online registration form does not automatically place you into the system.  Your information must be manually uploaded before you receive text alerts.  If you register over the weekend, please allow additional time for your information to be uploaded into the system.

  • Please note that school cancellations, delays, etc. are also posted on our District homepage, District Twitter, and on various local TV and radio stations.

**All information and contact numbers are strictly secure and confidential and are only used for the purposes described.

When used, the service will call all phone numbers in our selected contact lists and will deliver a voice or text message from a school administrator.  Messages will be sent only in the case of an emergency, school cancellation, delay, etc.  The problem with Verizon Wireless cell phones not receiving text messages has been corrected; therefore, school closing and delay information will only be sent by text message.

We will also attempt to make weather-related closing/delay announcements on the following local stations:
PASD Twitter Account
Punxsy School TV Cable Channel 18
WTAJ, TV Channel 10, Altoona
WJAC, TV Channel 6, Johnstown
WTAE, TV Channel 189, Pittsburgh
WPSX, TV Channel 3, Penn State
WPXZ, Radio 104.1 FM, Punxsutawney

Information About SchoolMessenger Notification System

In order to improve communication between parents and school, the Punxsutawney Area School District has adopted SchoolMessenger as our telephone notification system. The District will use it for school delay and closing notifications; however, it may also be used for attendance and other important emergency notification events.

The service will call all phone numbers in our selected contact lists and will deliver a voice message or text message generated by the system.

Please make every effort to provide the school with current and accurate phone information any time there is a change to ensure that you do not miss important information.

In dealing with cell phones, answering machines, and automated systems, there will certainly be some glitches. Parents, students, and staff should not rely on SchoolMessenger as the only means of notification about school closings and delays. These types of notifications will also be made through local radio stations, Comcast channel 18, the district web page, and the district's Twitter account.

This system is not meant to be a substitute for personal contact with your child’s school. However, to register to receive notifications through SchoolMessenger, please complete the registration survey by clicking on the link at the top of this page.
