PAHS, home of the Chucks, sits atop the town of Punxsutawney in north central Pennsylvania and houses grades 8-12.  We are proud to once again be on the forefront of education in the 2015-16 school year by continuing the 21st Century Learning Initiative in grades 8 through 12.

    Last Student Day
    There is no school on Monday, May 30th.  The last student day for underclassmen is on Wednesday, June 1st.  We will follow a Flex Day schedule and dismissal will be at 12:15 that day.  Have a great summer!

    Student Laptop Collection
    Juniors, Sophomores, Freshmen & 8th graders will return laptops on Thursday and Friday this week and on Tuesday, May 31st.  Remember to bring your laptop, charger, and laptop bag if you were issued one.  You should have all your files backed up before you turn in your laptop.  Student files will be cleared over the summer when laptops are refreshed with updates.  For more information, please look at the announcement on Canvas.  The library will be closed when the laptops are being returned.

    Senior Trip to Kennywood
    The senior trip to Kennywood is on Thursday.  Bring money for food/games.  All seniors will be in 1st period for attendance then on an announcement will report to CDMG before boarding the buses.

    Commencement 2016
    Commencement is on Friday, May 27 at 7 PM (the location will be determined on Fri., depending on the weather).  The Post Graduation Party will be held for the Class of 2016 from 10 PM – 1 AM here at the high school.  There will be a variety of food, various forms of entertainment (including swimming at the MS pool – remember your swimsuits and towels), Chamber Gift Certificates and 2 grand prizes of MacBook Pros.  There will also be Pirate tickets given away through our DJ, Mike Gigliotti.  Seniors must be present to win!

    MS Track & Field Championships
    Congratulations to Leah Miller and Sammy Dyson on their District 9 Championship performances in Kane! Leah won the high jump competition and Sammy earned first place in both the shot put and the discus.  Also, congratulations to Jared Manners, Ryan Jones, Ethan Riley and Matt Wehrle on their first place finishes at districts.  These athletes will be competing at the PIAA State Championship Meet at Shippensburg University. Good luck and congratulations to all of the athletes!  Go Chucks!

    Summer Youth Football Camp
    The PAHS football team will hold its 2nd annual summer youth football camp on July 19th & 20th from 5-7 pm at the high school practice field. This is open to athletes ages 7-12 or currently in grades 2-7.  For more information and to download a copy of the registration form, CLICK HERE

    Canvas is changing how teachers and students navigate when they log into their Canvas accounts. This change is going to take place on Wednesday, May 4.     AmeriCorps Positions Available

    Summer Food Service Program
    Free Summer Lunch for kids at the Punxsutawney High School Cafeteria.  June 6 through August 24, 2016(closed July 4).  Hours: Monday through Friday 11:00am to 1:00pm.  Free to anyone age 18 and under. Adult meals available for $3.75.  Food that's in when school is out.
