PAHS, home of the Chucks, sits atop the town of Punxsutawney in north central Pennsylvania and houses grades 8-12.  We are proud to once again be on the forefront of education in the 2015-16 school year by continuing the 21st Century Learning Initiative in grades 8 through 12.

    AP Exams at PAHS
    AP exams will be held this week from 8:10-12 noon in the GOCR as follows:  AP English Literature & Composition on Wednesday, AP Calculus on Thursday, and AP US History on Friday. Students should report to 1st pd. for attendance on test days and then report to the GOCR immediately following the flag salute.  Testing begins at 8:15.

    PAHS Hosts Special Olympics
    PAHS will host the 2016 Special Olympics on Wednesday, May 4.  In case of rain, the rain date is scheduled for Thursday, May 5.  The band students are to report to the band room at 9:00 on Wednesday to go up to the football field and perform the National Anthem for the opening ceremonies.  Students who park in spaces 128-157 will be directed to park in the practice field.  Special Olympics volunteers who are unclear about their responsibilities should stop in room 234 to see Mr. Heigley ASAP.

    Saturday Graduation Practice
    Attention seniors – our first Saturday graduation practice will be Saturday, May 7th beginning at 8 AM in the PAHS auditorium.  All seniors are to be present, unless an excuse is turned in to Mr. London this week, as this counts as a day of school.  There will be donuts, juice & milk available.  Practice will conclude by noon.  We will be practicing both inside & outside – dress accordingly for the weather!

    Canvas is changing how teachers and students navigate when they log into their Canvas accounts. This change is going to take place on Wednesday, May 4.     Behind-the-Wheel Applications
    Any student who wants to schedule Summer Behind-the-Wheel and has completed the classroom Safety Education Class can pick up a registration form in the office.  The cost is $75.00 – upon successful completion of the course, the district will refund $50.00 for the course.  Registration forms and payment are due by Friday, May 13th.

    Get Text Alerts On Your Phone!
    The Punxsutawney Area School District is now using a new system for school alerts regarding emergencies, delays, closings, and other important notification events.  The new system is called SchoolMessenger and it is now open for registration!  PLEASE NOTE: All registrations received prior to September 1, 2015, have been cleared from the system; therefore, you must complete the new registration survey in order to receive notifications for the 2015-2016 school year!  Click HERE for more important details and to reregister.
