7th Grade Community Service Project
marks its 17th year!
The seventh grade class at Punxsutawney Area Middle School completes a community service project by holding a canned food drive to benefit several local food pantries. We feel it is very important for our students to be involved in our community, to learn caring and compassion, and to show a willingness to help others less fortunate. We ask that student in grades 4, 5, 6, and 7 who are able to do so, please bring in canned goods, paper products, and any other nonperishable items to help us stock the food pantries for the upcoming holiday/winter seasons. (No glass items, please)
In honor of our 17th year carrying out the food drive, the goal this year is to collect 17,000 cans/nonperishables!
1. KICK OFF EVENT---Penny Wars NOV 3-7– Each grade will participate and proceeds will be used to purchase cans.
2. Pool party for grades 4-7 on November 17th from 6:00 – 7:30 P.M. Admission: 1 canned or nonperishable item per student. (We will gladly accept more!)
3. Double Day – Wednesday, November 19 – faculty/staff will match each donated item brought in this day
4. INTER-Grade Competitions---grades/team may have their own competitions
5. On November 26 there will be a free dance for students in 6th and 7th grades who participated in the food drive. The dance will be held from 12:30 – 2:00 P.M.
Coats for Kids Program
PASD Elementary Schools are accepting new and gently used coats, hats, scarves, gloves/mittens, snowpants/suits, and winter boots to donate to those in need. Parents can send their donated items to school with their children. We greatly appreciate your donations, as we've found a need in our district, and winter is right around the corner!
